2nd Trimester (14 to 26 Weeks)

By the second trimester, many of the unpleasant effects of early pregnancy starts to disappear. You are likely to experience decreased nausea, increased energy and able to sleep better. But once you think you are in the clear, there are a whole new set of symptoms that you may experience. These symptoms include heartburn, abdominal pain, back pain, leg cramps and constipation.

Between 16 weeks and 20 weeks, you may feel your baby's first fluttering movements depending on where your placenta is located. Your baby's organs continue to develop.

  • Heartbeat can be heard
  • Eyes can blink
  • Body begins to grow
  • Head growth rate slows down
  • Limbs are reaching normal proportions
  • Eyebrows and eyelashes develop
  • Can grasp and kick

By the end of the 2nd trimester your baby is about 14-15 inches long and about 2 pounds.
