Karen Collins, CNM

Karen Collins, CNM, at Maricopa Obstetrics and Gynecology Associates in Phoenix, ArizonaKaren Collins, CNM graduated from the University of Illinois in 2007 with an Masters in Nursing, specializing as a Certified Nurse Midwife and a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner. Karen enjoyed the honor of working as a graduate assistant for the Multicultural Health Center while completing her degree at the University of Illinois. After serving her community at a local practice in Champaign IL. and caring for a diverse population of women, Karen realized she wanted to expand her education with a post masters as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She knew this would give her greater ability to meet the needs of the women she served.

She attended Indiana State University, graduating in 2011 as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Most recently, she completed her Doctorate in Nursing Practice at Indiana State University. Her research focus has been on nutrition in pregnancy. Karen has practiced as both a Certified Nurse Midwife and a Family Nurse Practitioner. While most of her experience as a midwife has been hospital based, Karen has served as a Director of Nurse Midwifery for one of the first free standing birth centers in Illinois. Karen’s service at the birth center was key in getting the center open and accredited. Karen also worked in a large midwife group in Peoria Illinois, doing deliveries at both community hospitals. Karen is member of the American College of Nurse- Midwives and the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.

Karen and her husband, John came to Phoenix in July of 2017. Karen enjoys reading, and traveling with her husband, as well as spending time with their two adult children. Karen is learning to play the piano and enjoys biking and exploring the Phoenix area.
