Emily Tarazi, CNM, WHNP-BC
Emily Tarazi, CNM received her education as a Certified Nurse-Midwife and Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. Emily came to Phoenix in 2012 and in 2015 became the first CNM to obtain privileges and attend births at Banner University Medical Center-Phoenix. She has practiced in hospital and birth center settings. She is a member of the American College of Nurse-Midwives and the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.
Emily’s guiding philosophy is that childbearing is a normal physiologic process and an important life event. Her holistic care includes not only the physical, but also the emotional, social, and spiritual aspects of pregnancy and birth. She focuses on prevention and early detection of complications. Her interests include unmedicated (“natural”) childbirth, waterbirth, and vaginal birth after Cesarean (VBAC). She is also a board-certified Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner with interests including contraception management and wellness education.
Emily is originally from Raleigh, North Carolina, and has backgrounds in writing and education. She is active in the local chapter of the national midwifery organization and volunteers as a Girl Scout troop leader. She loves college football, running, dark chocolate, and the ocean. In her free time, she enjoys reading and relaxing with her husband, three daughters, and needy cat.
